My Vlogging Experience: Day 1

Now that my first video has been live on YouTube for 24 hours, I figure now would be a great time to tell you guys about my first experience posting a vlog.  To start, we can call the experience, fun, nerve-wracking, and just plain confusing/stressful.  Filming itself was simple – get my iPod Touch, film, and be done with it.  But the editing itself was a nightmare.  Who knew it would take two days, two computers, and 5 computer programs?  Even I would never have guessed it would take that much effort.

Filming on my iPod seemed like the perfect idea at first.  It gets much clearer picture than my camera does, and I don’t have a video camera, while the iPod atleast has some decent video capabilities.  But, little did I know that it saved the video segments in a format only compatible with Macs – which I don’t have.  To make matters worse, the editing software on my computer decided not to play nice and refused to cooperate with me.  But, thankfully, one of my roommates has a Mac and was nice enough to let me use her laptop to edit my video and publish it.

Once the video was done being edited, I had to convert the file so that it was compatible for YouTube, a process that took almost an hour.  Add that to the time that YouTube took to upload the video onto the site and you get two hours.  All I can say is, it’s a good thing I had my laptop to play with during that time!

But once the video went live, and I was able to see it on YouTube, I couldn’t believe I’d done it.  I’d actually posted my first vlog!  Sure, it’s not the best quality, and I admit that I’m lookin’ a little rough, but I put myself out there, and did it.  And that was what matters to me.  I know I have room for improvement, and believe me, I can’t wait to try out new techniques, but I’m happy with where I’ve started because it could have been a lot worse.

So if you haven’t already watched the first vlog, I’d really appreciate it if you would all go and check it out!  Also, please go and LIKE and FAVORITE the video, and SUBSCRIBE to my channel!
