What’s on My Cell Phone: Part 6

Hey Everyone!
I hope you all are getting some new app ideas from this series!  That being said, let’s hop right in to today’s app folder- the Shopping folder!

Shopping

Yelp: Yelp is an incredibly helpful app, especially if you are new to a specific area and are looking for good recommendations on businesses.  Many people specifically use it for restaurant reviews, and that’s probably what it is most well-known for.  I use Yelp not too often, but I do use it to look up reviews on places and save places that I want to try out with friends, or places that I’m interested in for the future.

Ebay: This is the basic Ebay app.  With the Ebay app, you can do pretty much all of the basic things that you can do online, but if you’re bidding on an item, it can be nice to know that you can get instant updates on the item if you are outbid or if your item you’re selling is sold.  Basically, it’s all about convenience.

Amazon: This app came pre-installed on the phone, as did the Ebay app, and to be honest, I don’t use it too much, though I have used it more recently because of the holiday season than I have ever since I’d gotten my phone.  The only thing I really like using on the app however, is the ability to track my packages and see when they’ve shipped.  For some reason, I’m a tad obsessed with package tracking.

Starbucks: The main reason I love the Starbucks app is because I like knowing how many stars I have left until I reach the gold level on my rewards card (ha!).  However, this app also has the ability to tell you where the closest locations are to you and their WiFi capabilities and whether the location is a drive-through location.  In addition, you can also use your phone to pay as opposed to swiping your Starbucks card.  I personally have never done this, but I know people that have and they have never had problems with it.  But, if you’re a coffee/caffeine/white mocha addict like me, this is a great app to have.

Target: Being a Target employee, I think it would be highly frowned upon if I did not have this app installed on my phone.  However, since I love shopping at Target in general, I don’t think I would be able to function without it.  There are now even coupons on this app (in addition to Cartwheel) that change weekly, so you can get extra savings at the register just by having this app and knowing where to look.

Cartwheel:  Probably the most used app in this entire folder, Cartwheel is just such a clever thing on Target’s part.  While I haven’t saved that much in comparison to some people I know (I literally know people that have saved close to $100 from this app since it was released), it does give your receipts a little extra savings, and who doesn’t love that?  The only downside is the finding the deals part.  You have two options basically.  Either search before hand, or search while shopping.  What I’ve found is best is to quickly scan the app the day new coupons are released for things I may want, and add them to my Cartwheel.  Then, while shopping, use the scan it now feature to scan each individual item I add to my shopping cart and search for extra savings.  It may be a bit tedious, but I find the most savings that way and I do find a lot of extra savings I missed the first time.  I don’t want to miss anything!!  Money is money in my book.

So that is everything in my Shopping folder!  I hope you guys check out Cartwheel if you haven’t already.  I’m not saying that as a Target employee- I’m saying that as a friend.  You can save so much money from that app if you use it the right way and play your cards right.  And it is a free app!

Thanks for reading everyone!  I hope you all are having a fantastic day and week and I will talk to you all soon!

Happy reading!
Allison
