I’ve been a
huge fan of the ABC Family t.v. show Pretty Little Liars for quite a long time
now, and this past week was the season two finale. So, for those of you who are unfamiliar with
the show, this post may not make a whole lot of sense to you, but I will say
this – go watch the show! It’s great and
highly addicting. And to those who are
familiar with the show, what did you think of the finale??? SPOILER
ALERT!!!!!!!!!!
Ezra going
public was something that I was not expecting at all. I did think that he would show up briefly
despite everything that had gone on with Aria’s parents. As much as I loved this moment, being the big
Aria/Ezra fan that I am, I couldn’t help but wonder, shouldn’t he have been
arrested for kissing a minor? It just
seems strange to me that he was run out of town by Byron’s threats of going to
the police but a public scene like that doesn’t faze him.
Finally after
weeks of waiting for the ‘Big A Reveal,’ we find that Mona is A. Because I’ve been reading the books slowly (I
read one every once in awhile in between other books), I wasn’t surprised to
find out Mona was A because she is the first A to be revealed as A in the
books. I was, however, surprised to find
that she survives the fall and then the twist regarding the personality
disorder. Was anyone else not surprised that
Mona was A? Who was surprised?
Another highlight
of the episode for me was when Spencer discovers A’s lair. I was definitely not expecting to see the
room where A does their dirty work in the finale at all, so I was extremely
glad that we were able to see it, and it ended up being really cool to see it,
despite it being a creepy setting. I
really appreciate the fact that now we have a clear visual for what we’ve been
seeing tiny snippets of at the end of each episode since the pilot.
And the
conclusion of the episode: the discovery of Maya’s body and Emily’s breakdown. I don’t know that this was necessarily
intentional since the show is not over, but I almost felt like the show came
full circle in the finale. The discovery
of Maya’s body was setup almost exactly like it was when the girls looked on at
the discovery of Alison’s body in the pilot.
Content wise, I personally never liked Maya as a character, so I wasn’t
all that upset when she turned up dead, but Emily’s reaction is what got to me
emotionally. It definitely says
something about Shay Mitchell’s acting ability that she was able to make me
care even though I never have before.
So for all of
you who watched the finale, what did you think??? Leave me a comment and let me
know!
