MacBook Pro: First Impressions

Hey Everyone!

Since I’m new to the world of Macs (on a personal level) I thought I’d share my first impressions on my brand-spanking new MacBook Pro with you.  And, if you own a MacBook or MacBook Pro, or would love to jump in on the PC vs. Mac debate leave a comment down below and let’s get a conversation going!

Specifications of my Computer:
Macbook Pro 13in
4.5 pounds
2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
4GB memory
Intel HD Graphics 4000

To start, let me just say that I’m writing this after having my laptop for 1 full day.  I’ve had time to test it out, try out the programs it offers that PCs do not such as iMovie, test out Office for Mac, and in general adjust to the new settings.  So far, I am absolutely loving it.  Most of my Mac experience has been on iMacs (desktop Macs) and it has been just ok, nothing fabulous.  I find the laptops much easier to navigate and adjust to.

So far, the most useful, and my favorite aspect of having the MacBook has been having the ability to use iMovie.  While it’s definitely going to be a learning experience, having the program will make my vlogs and main channel videos much better quality and overall more creative in the editorial department.  When compared with the program that I was using on my PC (Windows Movie Maker) it’s like night and day.  There’s absolutely no comparison as to what’s better in this department.

One thing that I will admit that I’m not one hundred percent sure about is the Office suite.  While I haven’t come up with problems or complaints regarding the Office programs, I’m just not sure if they’re the same quality as the PC versions.  Thoughts?

So far, I’m happy with the switch.  I don’t regret it in the least.  While the Macbook does cost more, a truly custom PC can cost just as much if not more, and you don’t get as much extra bang for your buck.

Things that I’m looking forward to?  Learning more iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, and just how to utilize the overall system to the best of it’s ability.

Do you have a Mac?  A PC?  Let me know in the comments below!
