Movie Review: Fast Five

Yup.  I admit it.  I’m completely obsessed with Fast Five and the general Fast and Furious series.  There’s just something about it that I love, I can’t explain.  But by far my favorite film of the series is the fifth film, Fast Five.

Probably one of my favorite aspects of the movie is the romance between Mia and Brian.  Without giving too much away, in this film you find out that Mia is pregnant and Brian is the father.  I absolutely love the two of them as a couple and will be absolutely devastated if something bad happens to them in the upcoming sixth film.

And then there’s Dom.  The ever sexy Vin Diesel.  There’s just something about this character that is so appealing- you root for the bad guy.  He’s done wrong, he’s planning on pulling a con, yet you still feel for him and want him to succeed.  You want ‘The Rock’s’ character to fail in capturing him, just so that Dom can live a happier life with his band of misfits.

And then there is the band of misfits.  The band of followers who are working to support Dom, Mia, and Brian in their scheme against Reyes and the cops are absolutely hilarious characters and are beautifully casted.

The last action sequence is by far my favorite part of the film.  It is ironically the first part of the film that I saw, and is what initially pulled me into the series.  If you’ve never seen the film, or any piece of the series, you may not understand what I mean by the appeal of cars racing and/or crashing into things.  But the film’s action sequences are done so well that they pull you in, even if you’re not a major action movie fan, like me.

Overall, if you’ve never seen the film, or the series, I highly recommend it.  And if you’ve been considering expanding your film repertoire and get into more action films, then The Fast and the Furious series is a great place to start.
