AllisonWatches: The Office (U.S.)- Mid-Show Thoughts

A few months back, I decided to finally watch a show that is constantly raved about: The Office.  While the show had already ended, so many people, including Brittany, have always encouraged me to watch it, and I finally decided to do it.  I will say that going into it, I already knew the basics, had seen random episodes, knew the general plot lines, who ends up with who, etc.  Overall, I had an idea of what to expect.

I was definitely not expecting to fall in love with the show as much as I have.  I will say it now just to get it out there- if you haven’t watched the show, just do it.  It’s hilarious, light-hearted, and perfect.  I personally love starting my day with an episode while eating my breakfast.  It’s great to start the day with a good laugh.

This is absolutely one of those shows the only gets better with time.  But right off the bat, the show was incredible.  An episode in the first season, “Diversity Day,” which I had seen before, had me hooked and drew me further in, but then later on in the show classic episodes such as when Dwight creates a ‘fire drill’ causing Stanley to have a heart attack, had me laughing so hard I was clutching my ribs.  It’s a rare thing to find a television show that can make me laugh that hard.

Even better, the show is on Netflix.  If you don’t have a subscription to Netflix, I would highly recommend the service, but I’m not going to even get into how much I love the service.

My favorite characters? I have to say I pick the “obvious ones.” Jim, Pam, and Dwight.  I definitely squealed with delight over Jim admitting he purchased an engagement ring a week after beginning to date Pam, and began tearing up at his impromptu proposal.  I’m a softie, what can I say?  Dwight brings the hilarity and ridiculousness that every show and film needs, and he does it with such absurdity that is so out there you just want him in your own life.

Are you a major Office fan?  Which characters are you lusting over?  Do you want to work at Dunder Mifflin?  Let me know in the comments below!  I’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the show!

Until next time, Happy Reading!
Allison

What’s in my Netflix Instant Queue?

I’ll admit it- I’m a Netflix, or more generally, a tv/movie junkie.  And Netflix is certainly one of my favorite ways of keeping up to date on my favorite tv shows and movies, and is a great way to discover new content.  But when people are browsing through my personal Instant Queue, they are often surprised by the selections that they find.  I have a wide variety of items in there - from science fiction, to classics, you can pretty much find something from every genre in there.

So what exactly IS in my list of things to watch?  Here is a list of things I’ve got piled up in there…..

Scandal
Orange is the New Black
Doctor Who
Once Upon a Time
Mad Men
Sherlock
Charmed
Pretty in Pink
Skins
Parenthood
Top Gun
Waiting for Forever
What’s Eating Gilbert Grape
Angel
Life Unexpected
Firefly
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Star Trek
The Great Gatsby
Dollhouse
Roman Holiday
Jane by Design
Shakespeare in Love
Ringer
The Dick Van Dyke Show
Charade
His Girl Friday
The Trial of Billy Jack
A MidSummer Night’s Dream

So what am I most excited to watch?  I’m definitely excited to watch Scandal, now that they’ve added the second season, as I’ve only seen the first season.  Doctor Who is another ‘top of the list’ show for me, as it’s so incredibly popular and has such a cult following.  I do want to finish watching Once Upon a Time as I’m currently about halfway through season 1.  And I’m really excited about having the opportunity to watch the Audrey Hepburn films.  Overall, I’d say those are the more ‘go to’ things in my queue.

What’s in your own personal Netflix Instant Queue?  And if you don’t use Netflix, what have you been watching lately?  Let me know what your recommendations for me are!

This Kathryn disappearance is so freaky!!! I can’t believe her clothes are still in the car!!!

Awwww! No wonder Grumpy is so grumpy!!!!! How sad!!!  Aw they’re whistling! How cute!!!! Eeek!!!

Leroy is such a trooper! Haha

Aww is this how Grumpy/Dreamy meets his love?

Ugh.  I don’t understand why Emma trusts Sydney.  And why wouldn’t she have gotten the phone records on her own?  I feel like that call was fudged.

Baaaaah I’m not gonna jump I could hit someone I’m solidly built. Hahahahaha.

Awwwwwwwww. His name changed.  How sad!!!!!

WOW.  Such a great ending.  Overall, a really good episode.  Much better than I had thought it would be.  Heigh-ho!

Ahhh! So Kathryn is Abigail!   I feel like that should have come out sooner!  Or maybe it did and I just don’t remember.  And yay! She doesn’t want to marry James either!!!

NOOOOO!!!!!! David can’t move to Boston!!!! He can’t leave Mary Margaret!!!  Well I know he can’t because of the curse, but he can’t.  He just can’t.  But, oh, oh! He’s telling Kathryn! YAY!!!

UGH!!! He had the perfect chance to be honest with her and why didn’t he tell her about Mary Margaret???? GAH!!!!

Um… What the heck is the writer doing to the book pages?????????????  Oh Emma is going to kick your ASS dude!!!!!

Ugh! Regina!!!!!!!!! I hate her!!!! Why would she get pictures taken of Mary Margaret and David!!!!!

Oh my Gosh.  Kathryn went to the school?!?!?!?!?! Hahaha that was hilarious!

That lake scene was intense….

Yay they got the book back!

Aw, so Kathryn turned out to be alright in the end.

AllisonWatches OnceUponATime Episode 12

Ooooh! Who is this pretty girl!  And of course here is Rumple once again!  Oh! It’s Belle!  HA!  And that’s Gaston!  Bahahahahah!  Oh my! Rumple KILLED IT in that scene!

Awww Cinderella and her baby!

Um… Mr. Gold and a gun?  Well that’s comforting.

Things just got really depressing in this episode.

AWWWWW!!!!! THEY GOT ENGAGED!!!!!!! EEEKKK!!!!!

And wow.  David gave her the wrong card.  AWKWARD SAUCE.  I really hope their relationship doesn’t end because I love them together.  But still.

Aaahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaa Mr. Gold got arrested!

Ooooh! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!! Mr. Gold admitted he’s Rumple!!!!!!! And all he wanted was the chipped teacup!!!

Aw! I can’t believe Belle dies!  So sad!

Hmmm… now what is the mayor doing?  Is she going to see Belle?  And yes.  Ugh.  Well that was creepy.  Yikes.

Overall, another odd episode.   But not terrible.  What did you guys think?

Let me know in the comments below what series/movies you guys would like me to watch and review for AllisonWatches in the future!  I’m about halfway through the Once Upon A Time season 1 right now, so I’ll be looking to start something new soon!

AllisonWatches OnceUponATime Episode 11

Ooooh!  Secretive texts from David! Ooh la la!  And an opportunity to bust the mayor!  All in one two minute span!

So now there’s a genie?  Interesting…

I can’t believe the book is gone!!!!

So the genie gave the queen the magic mirror?  Interesting….

So this is how the king dies…..

How come I have a feeling that Emma and Sydney are wrong in their accusations?  And of course they are.  HAHA.  Somehow I knew that one was coming.

UNBELIEVABLE.  SYDNEY was playing EMMA the entire time.  What the hell.

Overall, not the greatest episode, but the ending scene was such a mind-blowing moment that it made up for it!
