Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

·         3 tbsp. butter

·         1 10 oz. bag of mini-marshmallows

·         1/3 cup yellow cake mix (the dry cake mix, not prepared into a batter), can be adjusted based on personal preferences

·         6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal

·         1 1.75 oz. container of sprinkles

Directions

1.    Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows

2.    Stir until they begin to melt, adding in (dry) cake mix on spoonful at a time so it’s combined

3.    Stir in cereal so it is completely coated with marshmallow mixture

4.    Sprinkle in half of the sprinkles and mix

5.    Press into a baking dish (any size will do, I personally used a 9x13 pan) and top with the remaining sprinkles

6.    Let sit for about 30 minutes before attempting to cut.  It is recommended to spray a knife with a nonstick spray before cutting, but I did not do this when cutting and managed fine.

This recipe was really simple to follow and it really does not require that many ingredients.  If you do have to go out and buy ingredients because you don’t have the cake mix or the cereal at your house, depending on the size of the product you buy, you may have enough to make multiple batches of the treats.  I know that I have enough ingredients for at least one more batch because of the sizes that I’d purchased. 

Overall, if you’re looking for a variation on the normal Rice Krispie treats, give this a try!  It’s worth it, especially if you like cake batter tasting treats!

Spring Break Adventures #2

Hello World!

Spring break is still going strong, and I've been quite busy the past two days with shopping and doctor appointments.  I think that sometime in the next week or two I will post a haul blog with all of the new things that I've purchased over the past few days so that you guys can see what I've gotten.

Also last night I also ordered a few of the colors from the new China Glaze Hunger Games nail polish collection.  I'm super excited for my order to come in because I've been waiting for this collection to come out for such a long time, ever since it was announced!  I'm definitely planning on wearing one of the colors when I got to the midnight showing of the Hunger Games movie. (nerd alert!!!)

I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you for your continuous support and for coming to read my blog!  It really does mean a lot to see that I actually do have people that are taking time out of their day to come to my blog and read what I am posting.

Spring Break Adventures

Hello my lovely readers!  How is everyone today?

I hope everyone has has been having a good start to March so far!  I'm on my Spring Break so it's been nice to   have so time away from school and all of the stress that comes from constantly being on campus.  Charlie seems to be a little surprised about not being in his "room" and his usual bed, but he seems alright.  I think being back at home again with my family instead of being in my apartment at school with my roommates and friends was a bit of shock for him.

So far on break I haven't really done much of anything other than watch a ton of Big Bang Theory and write blog posts for you guys.  I've already watched all of Season 3 on dvd, and some of season 1 with my brother, and today I've watched all of the first disk of season 2.  I did plan on doing a ton of homework and and studying when I was home on break, but so far that really hasn't happened.  And I wanted to look for an internship for this summer, which also hasn't happened.

Today, I went took an adventure to Ulta for the first time.  One just opened up near my house and I've heard a bunch of things about it from watching beauty videos on YouTube so I decided to check it out.  The place was overwhelming!  I could have easily spent over an hour in that store but I was pressed for time since I had a doctors appointment so I had to keep it somewhat short.  If only I was rich... I would have bought so much more, especially in the way of nail polish and eye makeup!  Tomorrow I hit the mall!

I've mentioned this song in my “Must Watch YouTube Videos" blog post, but it's worth mentioning again because it is one of my favorites, if not my all-time favorite Luke Conard songs.  From the first time I heard this song, I can't go a day without listening to it, and I can't help but grin like a fool whenever I hear it.  Listen to this song and not smile, I dare you.

I admit, I've never heard the original of this song, even to this day, and I don't plan to.  I really do love this cover of it, and I don't want to taint my memory of the cover by actually listening to the original.  Plus, I'm really not a Chris Brown fan.

I absolutely love the fact that Ingrid is in this video and I love her energy in the video!  I think it's great that she gets out of her shell and acts silly with Luke in his music videos and in their vlogs together.  And the song just has such a positive, upbeat energy, who could not love it?

Maybe it's just me, but I find this version of this song much better than Adele's (insert gasp here).  Go watch it and you may see what I mean.  The few people that I've shown this to, have agreed with me on that though, and have said that it's much less whiney than the original, which is what I like about this cover.  That and the fact that Luke, Alex, and Chad are all just amazing in general.

I was one of the first 300 people to see this video (a fact that I proudly tell everyone I know), and it actually wasn't until I heard the original (weeks later, I might add) that I truly appreciated this video.  While I like the original song, I think my fondness of the song comes from the fact that I love this version and it reminds me of it.  I like that fact that this version features both singers more equally than the original, and I like the overall feel of the song better than the original.

Review: The Big Bang Theory Pilot

“It took you four years to get through high school???”

Now that I’ve seen this show and all of the episodes several times over, I can’t help but notice that the woman working the desk at the sperm bank is the same woman who plays the nurse at the ER each time that they end up in the ER.  Perhaps that’s a sign that I’ve seen this show too many times…

If this is your first time watching the show, or if you’ve never seen the show before and are considering watching, I want to tell you two things up front.  First, the pilot episode can seem very off-putting the first time you see it.  When I saw it, I didn’t really get into the show.  It took some time of me watching of other episodes from other seasons for me to get into the show enough to want to keep watching it.  And, at first, the theme song may drive you absolutely insane.  But, once you hear it enough times that you understand what it actually says and how well it fits with the show, you can’t help but love it.  So don’t let those things ruin your opinion of the show immediately!  Keep watching and you may just fall in love with the adventures of Penny, Leonard, Sheldon, Howard, and Raj!

I forgot how much the dynamics between Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny evolve over even the first season.  Penny is always very out-going, and Leonard is always a dorky little guy, but Sheldon really learns to be more open to new ideas and people.  He still is Sheldon, but he does loosen up quite a lot.  Compared to the current season, Sheldon in the pilot seems like the most unreasonable person imaginable.  

For those of you who haven’t ever seen The Big Bang theory, I strongly encourage you to do so.  The show may take some time to get into, but if watching pilot episode doesn’t get you interested in the show, then skip around a bit and watch random episodes from other seasons.  That’s what I personally did when I was getting into the show, and now I’m hooked!
