AllisonFit: Couch 2 5K

Are you a runner?  Have you ever thought about starting to run but don’t know how to get into it?

This running program is how I’m finally getting into running, and is also what I’m using to get into the best shape of my life.  I’m super excited about it, I’m not going to lie to you.  The overall program is designed for beginners that want to begin exercising but need to start at a slow, easy pace, and by the end of the 9 week workout program (just 3 workouts a week), you’ll be ready to run a 5K.  If that sounds like something that you need or something that appeals to you, than this workout is for you.

I just finished workout one yesterday, and I have to tell you, I’m feeling great.  I was expecting to feel worn out, sore, and miserable, but instead I feel energized and more…. Good then I did before.  (yes I know that’s bad grammar)

This workout also comes with a treadmill version, so if you prefer to workout on the machine as opposed to running outside (like I do), then you are able to do the adapted version of the workout.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the workout, and I’ve only done one workout.  I’ll definitely give you a more in depth review of the workout once I’ve progressed more into it and have completed a few weeks of it.  On that note, I’ll leave it here for today, and I hope you’ll all give this workout routine a try!  And good luck on  your other workout endeavors!

AllisonWatches: Once Upon A Time, Episode 4

Ooooh! A new fairytale character!  Yay for Cinderella!  Awww and seeing her ‘real’ self was so sad!

Wait.  WHAT.  WHAT.  What on earth just happened.  What did the Cinderella person (Ashley) just do to that guy????

Mr. Gold paid for the baby?  What in the world?

OMG the mayor and sheriff are having an affair!?!?!

Overall, this is probably one of my favorite episodes so far.  I know I’m not that far into the show, but there’s just so much packed into each episode that it feels as if I’ve seen so much content and so many different plot twists already.  What did you guys think of this episode?  Let me know in the comments below!

Post-Grad Blues

Now that Graduation from JMU is over, I literally can’t believe how quickly the past four years have gone by.  It all seems like a blur to me.  And now my brother is graduating from high school in a few weeks and will be starting his own college journey in the fall!  Talk about crazy!

Graduation day felt so surreal.  Walking across the stage and hearing my name called felt like an out-of-body experience, it didn’t feel real to me.  After the graduation ceremony, my family and friend Brittany went to a winery just south of JMU for a celebration, which was great.

But what am I doing now that I’ve graduated?   I don’t have a ‘big girl job,’ or a place of my own, so what next?  Well, I’m back working at Target, and Cy’s a local small Tux and Swim shop (yes, you heard me right) until I find a ‘real’ job.  And I’m back living at home, until I save up money for my own place.  I can just only hope that all of these things change soon – because I honestly have no idea how long I’ll last at home without going insane.

Part of me feels like I’m sixteen again – I’m working at the same two jobs I did when I was in high school, and I’m back under my parents’ roof full time.  While I knew that with the bad economy this was a possibility for me, I had sincerely hoped that it wouldn’t happen to me.

As far as the future goes, I’m looking to move out on my own, as in a city or area far from home.  I want the opportunity to live far away for at least a little while, so that I can discover myself and push myself to grow.  While I don’t think my parents necessarily like this I have to do what is right for me in this case.  I just hope they understand that.

My hopes for the next few weeks?  To get some applications out there for jobs, and keep working at Target and Cy’s to earn some extra cash to put in my pocket/bank account for later.  I’m sure I’ll be busy enough that the time will go quickly, even though it’s not the most exciting life I could be living.  But, I have bright hopes for the future, and I’m going to keep working towards my dreams.

The Road to the Stage: Graduation Stresses and Leaving College Behind

So, I’m sitting here at the table, and instead of studying for my last final of my college career (hopefully, I’ll get to that), I decided to write a blog post.  After all, writing is what I do.  I’m stressed out more than I’ve ever been in my entire life, and I can barely handle it.  So why not unload a bit, and share the experiences I’ve been having with my good ‘friends,’ my awesome readers?

Buying my cap and gown, taking graduation pictures on the quad, and prepping for that final walk across the stage where I’ll receive my diploma has been a completely surreal experience.  While I’m excited to be taking the next step in my life, it still hasn’t really hit me that this phase in my life is over.  I know I won’t miss classes and homework and studying nonstop, I mean, who would?  But I’ll miss the friendships I’ve made here, relaxing on campus, and all of the wonderful experiences I’ve been able to have during my time at JMU.

And then there’s the finals.  To make a long story short, I have one class that could end up preventing me from receiving that nice shiny (ok not really shiny) diploma in a few days.  And that terrifies me.  And I won’t know until after the actual graduation ceremony if my diploma is valid.  Can you imagine how I’m feeling right now?  I’m sure I’m not the only one in this position, but I’m too selfish right now to care.  And yes, I know that’s bad, but I can’t help it.  I’m desperate.  I literally just want to pass this class.  And of course the final for that class had nothing the professor told us to study on it.  I mean, come on, how fair is that?  It’s like he’s dooming me to fail.

At this point, I know that it’s out of my hands.  All I can do now is hope and pray that everything works out.  I just hope I can count on you guys to hope and pray with me. J

Have you gone through similar experiences before leaving school?  Whether it be high school or college (or any schooling or activity even), let me know!  I would love to hear about everyone’s experiences.

AllisonWatches: Once Upon a Time, Episode 3

Welcome back to another AllisonWatches blog post!  I hope you’ve so far been enjoying the series!

Awww!  Henry’s idea’s are so adorable.  The idea of reading the story of Snow White and Prince Charming to the coma patient is just adorable.  Because we know the truth, and we just want the story to be connected.  And then I just couldn’t help but get excited when he grabbed her hand!  And then when the doctor called the evil mayor and she obviously cared about it, well, WOW!

Aaaah!!! I’m so excited/happy that he woke up and walked out of the hospital!

On another note, I’m loving the action sequences in this episode in FairyTale world between Snow White and Charming.  So cute!!!!  I can’t wait to find out more about their relationship!

WHAT?!?!?!?!!?! JOHN DOE IS MARRIED????? Part of me doesn’t believe it…

Geez.  This stepmother is a piece of work.  I can’t stand her.  I know she’s supposed to be like that and everything, but I just HATE this character.

Well, that’s it for this episode!  I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts as I watched the show this time around!  Let me know what you thought about the episode if you watch the show, and let’s get a conversation going!
