iPod Apps: What’s on My iPod? Part 4

Food

Yelp:  I think it’s safe to say that we all know what Yelp is.  Well, this is just the app version of the website.  This is a great app to have, especially if you are new to an area, or are looking to expand your horizons and try out new things.  This app can help you find restaurants, drugstores, gas stations, and much more and will rate them for you and show you pricing.  This app can definitely be a lifesaver!

Foodily: This app is a recent download of mine, but it allows you to share recipes and talk about food with people (sort of like a social network).  You can follow chefs, food celebs, and friends in order to get ideas on meals.  I can’t wait to give this app a try and come back and give you all more information about it!

AllisonWatches: Once Upon A Time

Episode 2: The Thing You Love Most
OK, so I totally believe the adoptive mother is the evil queen.  After she threatened Emma with the apples at the hotel, I feel like it’s really obvious.

Awwwwww!!! I can’t believe she cut out her father’s heart! How horrible!  But I guess she is an evil queen.  But still.

So it is only the second episode and I’m already making so many connections between all of the characters and relationships!  It’s so well written and easy to follow, yet so complex at the same time.  I absolutely love it!

When I started the show, I thought I would hate the pieces that were not a part of the fairy tale world.  But, in actuality, I don’t mind them at all.  While I still love the fairy tale world pieces the best, the real-world pieces pull together the plot and allow you to make connections that you need to understand the show.

Overall, awesome episode!

Study Abroad Part 5: A Walk Through London

One day on a free weekend, I decided to take advantage of the free time that I had and take a walk through central London.  I wanted to hit up many of the places that I’d been dying to see but hadn’t gotten to yet.  So that’s exactly what I did.  I took a few hours, grabbed my phone, purse, and keys, and it the streets.  And most importantly, I took my camera- the most important accessory of my time abroad.

First up was Shaftsbury Avenue.  Known for it’s Theatre and it’s brief mention in the second to last Harry Potter film, I was determined to walk down this street.  I didn’t have a particular reason for wanting to do it, other than to say I’ve done it.  So that’s exactly what I did.  And boy did I find some great things along the way.

Next up was Piccadilly Circus.   Located at the end of Shaftsbury Avenue, it was convenient for my walk.  I spent some time checking out the Eros statue in the center of the square, and sat on the steps of the statue, just taking in the general splendor of the area.  It was moments like these when I stopped to sit and think about where I was when I was reminded how truly lucky I was to be in London and traveling around Western Europe.

A quick ride on the Tube took me to Camden Market- a place I’d visited on my first full day in London with my entire group on our tour, but a place I’d wanted to explore further.  I returned to the area, made a few purchases (a few prints of London that now hang in my room), and then proceeded to look in the nearby shops.

After exiting the market, I headed home to my flat near the British Museum.  On the walk back, I played ‘tourist’ in my own neighborhood and took photographs, never wanting to forget the sights that I saw each and every day.  After all, those were some of the most important memories to take back with me.

All in all, that day, that walk through London, was one of the most enjoyable days I spent during my time abroad.  Not only was it time to myself, but it was also time that I let myself breathe, and think about why I was there and what I wanted to do in the short amount of time that I had left in the city.

iPod Apps: What’s on My iPod? #3

Games

Tiny Tower:  I’ve done a full blown review on this game before, but just to be brief, I absolutely love this game.  It’s by far my favorite game that I’ve played on the iPod.  Here is the link to my original review of the app: http://constantcomments1.blogspot.com/2012/02/tiny-tower-my-newest-addiction.html  Go check it out for more information on the app!

Words with Friends:  This is a pretty fun game to play with your friends if you have the patience.  While it can take time to get the hang of, once you learn how to play, it can get pretty competitive.

Flow:  This is a great app if you are interested in puzzles and thinking games.  It starts off fairly easy, but then becomes more difficult as you progress through the games.  I definitely recommend this app to those of you who love these types of games, or those of you who are looking for a great free app that is different from the norm.

AllisonWatches: Once Upon a Time

Welcome to my new series, AllisonWatches!  In this series, I’ll be watching a tv show and giving you my thoughts on each episode.  I’ve done things like this in the past, and thought I’d revisit this type of post.  For the first show that I thought I’d dive into is the hit ABC show Once Upon a Time.  Feel free to leave comments about your thoughts on the show if you watch it, and let me know if you are interested in watching it after reading the blog posts.  Just FYI- these posts WILL contain spoilers and details about each episode that you may not want to read if you are planning on watching the show or haven’t gotten to a certain point in the show yet.

Episode 1: Pilot
LOVED LOVED LOVED the beginning!  I don’t really like Ginnifer Goodwin, but, so far, I think she’s done a really good job in the role as Snow White.  This show has already pulled me in, and I really don’t mind.

Hmmm…. So now that they’ve seen Rumple… I’m thinking… is Henry’s mother Emma?  Hmmm….  Interesting.  This is interesting.  And confusing.

Ahhhh!!!!  This is sooo good!!  Is Henry’s adoptive mother the evil witch???  This show is so good!!!

And wow, I’m already so attached to the characters.  I started tearing up when I saw Prince Charming die or get stabbed or whatever.  I’m so sappy.

So, overall, I’m absolutely loving this new show!  I can definitely see myself finishing this show very quickly and being absolutely hooked on it.  Have you guys watched the show?  What did you think of it?
