100th Post: Why I love Blogging

My experience with blogging has definitely not been a piece of cake.  Sometimes I can’t think of anything to write about, sometimes I’m just too busy to post, and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming and frusturating.  But even with all of those things, I still love every moment that I spend with Constant Comments, and my new vlogging project, allisoncomments.

Why do I love doing this?  Putting it into a few sentences or even one long blog post won’t completely do it justice.  But, I will say this: having one place (or now two) that are my ways to share my thoughts and ideas with people is a lot of fun.  Knowing that not only my friends and some family members are taking the time to read what I post, but that complete strangers to me are reading what I post literally makes my day.  I can never say thank you enough to all of my readers for the amount of support that I have gotten in the past six months.

When I began blogging in January, it originally began as a New Year’s resolution and as something to try.  As much as I hoped to, I wasn’t necessarily counting on keeping up with posting regularly on my blog.  Now that I’ve kept it up, I can’t imagine not posting material.

So this is where I say THANK YOU.  Thank you for reading and sharing my blog with your friends!  You have no idea how much I appreciate your support.

BBW: The Work Experience

If you haven’t figured it out based on my Twitter yet, I recently gotten a job at Bath and Body Works.  I love BBW for the candles and the home goods that they have, so I was super excited when I got the job there.

While I’ve had previous sales jobs before, nothing compares to the BBW experience.  For starters, training was 9 hours long.  And I’m still not register trained.  (YIKES!!!)  Though I did appreciate that training was done on your own – you simply watch a dvd that walks you through everything and anything you need to know and have several workbooks that you complete as you watch.  Then, when it was time to start working, I was trusted enough to be out on the floor without someone over my shoulder the entire time, something that I would not have had at any of my previous jobs.

Besides the interesting training experience, what really makes the experience working at BBW is the fact that I’m selling products that I actually love.  Unlike my other jobs, I actually use and like the products at Bath and Body Works and it makes doing my job a lot more interesting.  Having the ability to talk to people about the products and give them my own personal accounts is not only a big part of what BBW wants you to do, but it makes the work experience so much more enjoyable.

Overall, while the experience at BBW is different than what I’ve had at most of my other jobs, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working there so far.  This job is definitely an improvement from my job at Target, and even though I’ll be working at both jobs this summer, I definitely know which one I’ll prefer.

My Vlogging Experience: Day 1

Now that my first video has been live on YouTube for 24 hours, I figure now would be a great time to tell you guys about my first experience posting a vlog.  To start, we can call the experience, fun, nerve-wracking, and just plain confusing/stressful.  Filming itself was simple – get my iPod Touch, film, and be done with it.  But the editing itself was a nightmare.  Who knew it would take two days, two computers, and 5 computer programs?  Even I would never have guessed it would take that much effort.

Filming on my iPod seemed like the perfect idea at first.  It gets much clearer picture than my camera does, and I don’t have a video camera, while the iPod atleast has some decent video capabilities.  But, little did I know that it saved the video segments in a format only compatible with Macs – which I don’t have.  To make matters worse, the editing software on my computer decided not to play nice and refused to cooperate with me.  But, thankfully, one of my roommates has a Mac and was nice enough to let me use her laptop to edit my video and publish it.

Once the video was done being edited, I had to convert the file so that it was compatible for YouTube, a process that took almost an hour.  Add that to the time that YouTube took to upload the video onto the site and you get two hours.  All I can say is, it’s a good thing I had my laptop to play with during that time!

But once the video went live, and I was able to see it on YouTube, I couldn’t believe I’d done it.  I’d actually posted my first vlog!  Sure, it’s not the best quality, and I admit that I’m lookin’ a little rough, but I put myself out there, and did it.  And that was what matters to me.  I know I have room for improvement, and believe me, I can’t wait to try out new techniques, but I’m happy with where I’ve started because it could have been a lot worse.

So if you haven’t already watched the first vlog, I’d really appreciate it if you would all go and check it out!  Also, please go and LIKE and FAVORITE the video, and SUBSCRIBE to my channel!

Exciting News!!!

Hey Everyone!

I hope you all are having fabulous Fridays and a lovely start to the month of June! June! I can't believe we're already in June!!  And with it being the 1st of the month I have decided that it's finally time to announce some news that I've been holding on to for some time now.

Now that my Maymester class is wrapping up (I'll be officially done in a week!) and I'll be home for the summer, I've decided to start up my own YouTube channel and give this vlogging thing a try!

For those of you that don't know, when I originally started my blog, I wanted to make a vlogging channel (video blogging) on YouTube, but because I didn't have proper equipment or the knowledge on how to go about it, I wasn't sure it was a good idea.  So, I decided to try blogging.  Since blogging has gone so well, and since the addition of my Twitter account has been beneficial, I've decided to take the leap and go for it.

I haven't filmed anything yet, but the channel has been set up, and I've created playlists filled with my favorite music and videos that you guys can go and check out.  Please keep in mind that once I do film videos and post them, that I've never done this before, so bear with me if the quality isn't the greatest.  It's a learning process for me.  But, you'll be able to watch as I learn.

Overall, I'm really, really excited about this, and I hope that you are too!  And for those of you wondering, don't worry, I'm not abandoning my blog, I'll still be posting here. :)
