iPod Apps: What’s on My iPod? #3

Games

Tiny Tower:  I’ve done a full blown review on this game before, but just to be brief, I absolutely love this game.  It’s by far my favorite game that I’ve played on the iPod.  Here is the link to my original review of the app: http://constantcomments1.blogspot.com/2012/02/tiny-tower-my-newest-addiction.html  Go check it out for more information on the app!

Words with Friends:  This is a pretty fun game to play with your friends if you have the patience.  While it can take time to get the hang of, once you learn how to play, it can get pretty competitive.

Flow:  This is a great app if you are interested in puzzles and thinking games.  It starts off fairly easy, but then becomes more difficult as you progress through the games.  I definitely recommend this app to those of you who love these types of games, or those of you who are looking for a great free app that is different from the norm.

AllisonWatches: Once Upon a Time

Welcome to my new series, AllisonWatches!  In this series, I’ll be watching a tv show and giving you my thoughts on each episode.  I’ve done things like this in the past, and thought I’d revisit this type of post.  For the first show that I thought I’d dive into is the hit ABC show Once Upon a Time.  Feel free to leave comments about your thoughts on the show if you watch it, and let me know if you are interested in watching it after reading the blog posts.  Just FYI- these posts WILL contain spoilers and details about each episode that you may not want to read if you are planning on watching the show or haven’t gotten to a certain point in the show yet.

Episode 1: Pilot
LOVED LOVED LOVED the beginning!  I don’t really like Ginnifer Goodwin, but, so far, I think she’s done a really good job in the role as Snow White.  This show has already pulled me in, and I really don’t mind.

Hmmm…. So now that they’ve seen Rumple… I’m thinking… is Henry’s mother Emma?  Hmmm….  Interesting.  This is interesting.  And confusing.

Ahhhh!!!!  This is sooo good!!  Is Henry’s adoptive mother the evil witch???  This show is so good!!!

And wow, I’m already so attached to the characters.  I started tearing up when I saw Prince Charming die or get stabbed or whatever.  I’m so sappy.

So, overall, I’m absolutely loving this new show!  I can definitely see myself finishing this show very quickly and being absolutely hooked on it.  Have you guys watched the show?  What did you think of it?

AllisonFit: Food Documentaries to Watch

As I mentioned briefly in my last AllisonFit series installment, I watched 3 health documentaries on Netflix recently.  I highly recommend watching all of them if you haven’t seen them and are interested in learning more about health and some new things going on in the health industry.  They are all available on Netflix Instant Streaming, but I am sure that you can find them elsewhere as well if you don’t have a Netflix account available to you.

1.     “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead”
My favorite of the 3 documentaries, this film follows 2 men on their journey to lose massive amounts of weight and live healthier lives.  How do they do it you ask?  By participating in 60 day juice fasts.  Now, that may sound crazy and impossible, but juicing has tons of health benefits and has actually been something that I have been considering doing for myself for a while now.  This film just confirmed that it’s something that I should start doing for myself.  I’m even considering doing a smaller 3-10 day juice fast of my own!  The amount of weight these guys lost is incredible, and the changes made to their bodies is phenomenal.  You have to see it to believe it.
2.     “Hungry for Change”
Another great documentary, this film has a ton of great information for those wanting a more factual based documentary.  The film goes into such minute details about fad diets and whether or not the REALLY work, sugar, aspartame, addictions, cleansing the body, and much more.  It is filled with personal testimonies and experts’ information on the subjects in the film.  I consider this film to be a bit more well done that Food Matters (they are made by the same people) as it discusses how all of these things tie into your overall well-being.
3.     “Food Matters”
Food Matters essentially delves into the world of disease and infection and discusses the medical world and all of the advances in medical technology that we have in today’s society.  However, the filmmakers take it one step further- could medical care be reduced, or less necessary if we simply eat healthier diets?  Food DOES matter in this case!  But be warned, this documentary does contain some pretty graphic images (the film does warn you before they show them- take that warning seriously).

So there you have it!  Those are the three health documentaries that I have recently watched!  Let me know if  you have watched any good ones lately and let me know if you would recommend them to me!

iPod Apps: What’s on My iPod? Part #2

Photography

Instagram:  Who doesn’t know what this app is?  I’m pretty sure everyone knows what this app is.  I’m starting this post off with this app simply because ever other app in this post is for this app.  I use them all to enhance the pictures that I take with the plain camera in order to create the ‘best’ possible photos for my Instagram uploads.  But, on another note, I absolutely love this app.  I have so much fun looking at people’s pictures and sharing my own pictures with others, and I hope you all take a second to go and follow me on this app (allisoncomments).

Pixlromatic: A photo editing app, this app allows me to edit my photos so that they look their very best for uploading to Instagram.  With a ton of different filters, this app is great to edit your photos.

PhotoWonder:  My personal favorite photo editing app, and my most frequently used one, this app also has tons of filters to use on your photos, in addition to fun effects for your photos, and the ability to create collages.

Ps Express: Photo Shop express has so many options to choose from.  You can change the most intricate things on the pictures like the saturation on a photo to adding an effect to it.  I definitely need to start using this app more for my photos.

Dyptic:  I literally just downloaded this app today, but this app allows you to create photo collages in all sorts of layouts.  I’m very excited to use this app and create more elaborate designs for my uploads!

A+ Signature: Another recent download, this app allows you to create a watermark on your photo so that you ‘brand’ your photo as your own.  This is a great app to use so that you can also create various writing or other designs on your photos.

iPod Apps: What’s on my iPod?

Hey Everyone!  So for today’s post I thought I’d share with you what’s on my iPod.  Now, I recently posted several VLOGS concerning this topic, but I also thought I’d post some blog posts to correspond with this as well.  This will be broken down into several posts- broken down into category, so be sure to be on the lookout for all of them!  I’m not going to be including the standard apps that come pre-downloaded on your iPod- everyone has them, so why bother?  And these apps can all be used on the iPad or iPhone as well.  Happy Downloading!

Random Apps

Podcasts:  This app I have to listen to podcasts (duh!).  I love podcasts, both video and audio.  I’m actually in the market for some new ones, so if you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments below- I’m open to anything.

Netflix:  I love this app for on-the-go Netflix watching.  This app actually saved my butt when I was in the hospital last summer.  Without it, I would have been bored out of my mind, and probably would have gone crazy.  I admit, it’s not as good as watching on a t.v., just because it’s a 3 inch screen, but hey, you get what you get with an iPod viewing app.  But I definitely recommend it for watching your stuff on the go.

Mint.com: A great portable version of the website, mint is a website for tracking your finances.  If you haven’t checked out this site yet, definitely go ahead and do so!  It could save you if you’re not money-minded like me!

Mixology:  Note: for use if your 21 or over only.  This app is great for finding new cocktails or mixed drinks to try.  You can also create a ‘cabinet,’ which stores everything alcohol wise that you have in your stock so that you can easily search drinks that you can make out of your stock, and you can save drinks to your favorites that you’ve tried.  There is also a free version and a paid version.

Youtube: This app I admit isn’t the greatest- I find it a bit hard to navigate, so I don’t really use it for my accounts.  I primarily use it just to watch random videos and stick to my computer for my accounts.  But it’s great for random videos.
