What’s on My Cell Phone: Part 5

Hey Everyone!
I hope you all are getting “app-crazy” just like me!  I definitely have those moments where I go on app-downloading frenzies and try out a whole slew of new things all at once.  Hopefully this series is giving you new ideas!

Folder Health

Daily Workout: Daily workout is yup, you guessed it, an app that gives you workouts.  When you open the app, you can choose between a full body workout, or workouts that target either your abs, arms, butt, cardio, or legs.  From there you can choose length of time, which variation of the workout you would prefer to complete and whether you would like to pick and choose exercises, or start a workout cycle.  This app is great for getting in small doses of powerful workouts into your day.

Relax Melodies: This app is filled with different sounds such as “river,” “flute,” or “campfire,” that you can mix and match together to create your own unique blend of a sleep machine.  I used to have major issues falling asleep and staying asleep and sleep apps like this helped tremendously.  Thankfully, I don’t need to use them on a regular basis anymore, but I do tend to keep on or two handy for when I do need them.

Nature Sounds:  Another sleep sound app, this app is more basic that Relax Melodies, and only has five sounds to choose from.  However, if you’re looking for a quick fix to sleep problems, this works just as well and for me, sometimes it was the better option.  Overall, if you have sleep issues or are looking for a white noise type machine for sleeping, I highly recommend checking out some of the sleep apps out there.  Both of the apps I have were free, and there are tons out there.

My Fitness Pal: I have a love/hate relationship with this app and program.  This program can be great when used to it’s full ability, but to do that you almost have to micromanage your food intake to the point where it’s unhealthy and you obsess over every single calorie.  However, it does make you more aware of just how many calories you consume each day.  For instance, after learning just how many calories was in my daily white mocha at Starbucks in college, I definitely learned I was going to have to cut back.

Folder: Other

Mint: Mint, the app for the financial website mint.com, is a great tool for tracking your daily spending and saving.  Mint has the capabilities that the online site does, but it’s all done from your phone (duh!).  I’ve been using the website for about a year now, and absolutely love it.  I can create financial goals for myself (like save up for a trip to Europe, etc.), track my spending each month, create budgets – pretty much anything financial that you can think of, mint can do.  If you’re looking for a good financial planning method, or are not so money-minded like me, then I highly recommend checking out Mint.

Quote of the Day: I really enjoy reading quotes and getting a bit of inspiration or wisdom each day, and this app is great for me.  I’ve even begun tweeting out some of my favorites (#quoteoftheday).  There are many great quote apps out there, but I found this to be the most streamlined for my taste.

Flipboard:  Flipboard is an app that I don’t use enough of.  It’s a great concept, and I feel as if I were to take the time to set it up properly and customize it to my taste, then it would be amazing.  The idea behind this app is that you create your own personalized ‘magazine’ or ‘flipboard’ based on topics that interest you.  Once created you flip through and can save/favorite items for later if desired.  Again, the concept is great here, and the app design is really amazing, but personally, mine just isn’t really functional for me because I haven’t taken the time to set it up for my tastes.  However, I recommend trying it out.  I love the idea, and really need to get on it and use it!

So there you have it!  Those are all of the apps in my Health and Other folders!  I hope this gave you some ideas on new apps to get, or at least gave you some new insights into apps you already have or maybe even apps to avoid.

As always, feel free to leave comments/suggestions/recommendations in the comments down below, and don’t forget about the new blog email address – constantcomments1@gmail.com !!!!

Happy Reading!
Allison
