Hello my lovely readers!
Today begins the long awaited series of posts where I tell
you all about my favorite beauty related products of 2013! I will be doing a total of 6 posts in this
series, and one video on my main YouTube channel, where I show you all of the
products. The blog posts, however, will
have a bit more detail about each product than the video will, but I highly
recommend checking out both.
For today’s post, I will be talking about my favorite scents
of the year, as well as my favorite makeup brushes. I definitely expanded my horizons in the
scent area this year, and switched my ‘main’ brushes over to the Sigma brand
brushes, which I am obsessed with. For
more details, keep reading!
Scents
Bath and Body Works:
Moonlight Path: My absolute all-time favorite scent from BBW ever,
Moonlight Path is described as “a soft blend of lavender, lilies, oakmoss &
musk inspired by moonlit walks in lush gardens.” This scent is the perfect scent for me,
because lilies are my favorite flower (little known fact about me!), and I find
lavender to be more energizing than calming or relaxing. I know that may seem odd, but I find it to be
invigorating and inspiring. If you are
looking for a scent at BBW, but have no idea where to start, I highly recommend
checking this one out. It’s not an
overpowering scent, but it’s there. I’ve
gotten so many compliments on it, and every time I recommend it to people in
the store, or give it as a gift, everyone loves it. Go check it out!
Bath and Body Works:
Pink Chiffon: An oldie but goodie, this is a scent that I’m still surprised
I like. I describe this scent to people
as a floral for people who don’t typically like floral scents. This scent is described as “a light as air
pairing of soft petals & vanilla chiffon icing makes you feel oh so pretty
in pink.” I discovered this sent a year
or two ago, and it definitely one of my go-to scents when I’m not sure what I
want to wear that day. I absolutely love
it, and am always recommending it to friends, and now, I recommend it to YOU!
Bath and Body Works:
Beautiful Day: A new scent for BBW, and one that I picked up towards the
end of the summer, the top notes in the scent are listed as “Sun-kissed Apple,
Dewy Pear, and Sparkling Cassis,” and the scent itself as “as beautiful as the
perfect spring day… with sun-kissed apples, wild daisies and fresh pink
peonies.” This is a great scent for the
spring/summer months, and I can’t wait to pull it out again in the warmer
months!
Bath and Body Works:
Pure Paradise: Another more recent scent for me (as well as for BBW), Pure
Paradise is a scent that is described as “a summer-chic blend of sparkling star
fruit & ocean-kissed frangipani blossoms.”
Either way, this scent smells incredible!
Makeup Brushes
Sigma F30- Large
Powder: This is by far the best powder brush that I have ever used. It is humongous, soft, and applies product to
my face in a way that I didn’t even know was possible. It now comes in different metals, but I have
the basic one. If you are in the need of
a basic, plain, large, fluffier than a bunny powder brush, I highly recommend
this one.
Sigma F80- Flat
Kabuki: The F80 is my go to brush for liquid foundation. It’s what I’ve been using to apply my Revlon
Colorstay and my Makeup Forever HD foundations.
I love it because with it, I don’t use as much product as I use to, it
just spreads out the product that much better than previous brushes I’ve used,
and really makes sure I’m getting the best coverage possible. It makes buffing foundation into my skin easy
and simple, and makes the foundation application process much simpler and
quicker. This is a Synthetic Sigmax
brush from Sigma.
Sigma F86- Tapered
Kabuki: This is a great brush for foundation, or how I use it, to blend in
concealer. The bristles are extremely
dense which I love, and the tapered head makes getting in around the corners of
your eyes and nose much easier than other brush shapes do. This is one of the Synthetic Sigmax brushes
by Sigma.
Up & Up Medium
Shadow Brush (Target Brand): For an inexpensive brush, this brush is an
incredibly well-made brush, that works great for blending eyeshadow into your
crease, or even for just applying eyeshadow onto your lid. This is a great brush for beginners, or
people who are looking for an alternative to purchasing the more expensive
brushes from Sigma or MAC. I’ve had this
for a little over a year now, and have not had any problems with it- no
shedding, nothing. I would definitely
purchase more of them.
So that is it for my favorites
today! Keep on the lookout for more
favorites coming your way for the rest of the month, all ending with the
uploading of m big “Yearly Favorites” video!
I’m extremely excited about this video, it’s probably the biggest one I’ve
ever filmed, and there may just be a few surprises coming!
Until next time,
Allison
