AllisonFit: Jillian Michaels, 30 Day Shred

Welcome back to another segment of AllisonFit!  Today I want to talk about a workout dvd that I’m sure many of you have heard of before, Jillian Michaels’ 30 Day Shred dvd.  This workout is so challenging that I finish is feeling so winded and tired, that I practically need a nap afterwards!

The dvd comes with 3 levels on it, 1, 2, 3, and as you become stronger in each level, you progress forward.  I’m still on level one (sad, I know), but I was at one point on level 2.  Right now, the thought of moving up to level two makes me a bit sick though.  However, this video is a great workout, and does really work your entire body in around 30 minutes, including both a warm-up and cool-down.  Not much time at all when you think about it.

The workout is based off a 3-2-1 interval system, which means that there is 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio, and 1 minute of abs work.  And let me just say it again, this workout is tough when you first start.  But, if you’re diligent with it and don’t give up, which I admit is a challenge, you can literally feel you’re body becoming stronger from day to day.  It is literally the coolest feeling.

I highly recommend this workout, even if you’re just starting out a fitness program.  When I bought this dvd and starting doing it for the first time, I hadn’t worked out seriously in years.  And in about a week I was stronger than I’d ever been.  It works that fast.  It doesn’t matter where you are when you start, you’ll see results and get to a great point in the end, even if you only stay at level one for the entire 30 day challenge.  I’d heard incredible things about Jillian Michaels’ workout dvds but I was always skeptical until I experienced one for myself.  Once I did, I became someone that saw my fitness differently.  It is possible to get in shape and change my body for the better.  I can get the body that I want, I just have to be willing to do the work to get it.  And you can too.
